Privacy Policy
3D 2048 ("the Game," "we," "us") is a free browser-based puzzle game. This policy explains what data the Game handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Game does not require an account, and you are never asked for your name, email, or any other personal identifier.
1. Data stored on your device
The Game runs entirely in your browser. The following data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage and stays on your device — it is never uploaded to us:
- Your chosen player name (optional — used only to label your scores)
- High scores and local rankings for each game mode
- Language preference (English / Japanese) and sound settings
- Current game state, so an in-progress game can resume
- Your cookie-consent choice (see section 5)
You can clear all of this at any time using your browser's "Clear site data" or "Clear cookies and site data" feature. Doing so removes your saved progress and local rankings.
2. Global leaderboard
The Game keeps a global leaderboard hosted on Google Firebase (Firestore). Submission happens automatically — there is currently no setting that turns it off. Your score is sent when a run ends, either by reaching the target tile or by filling the cube. It is also sent mid-run when you leave the game (returning to the menu, closing the tab, or switching away from it on a phone), but only if the run beats your own best local score, so a strong game isn't lost when you stop partway.
An entry records the display name shown, the score, the highest tile reached, the date, the board size, the difficulty, the mode, and the time the server received it. No email address, account, IP-based identity, or other personal identifier is attached — none exists, because the Game has no accounts. If you have not chosen a name, the entry is filed under the default guest label.
Because entries carry no identifier, the display name is the only part of an entry that could point at you. If you would rather not be identifiable on the leaderboard, choose a name that isn't tied to you. If an entry is already there and you want it removed, send the mode, the name, and the score through the contact page and it will be taken down.
3. Analytics
To understand how the Game is used and to improve it, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized, aggregated statistics such as visit counts, game starts, and completions. IP addresses are anonymized. Analytics scripts load only after you accept cookies in the consent banner described in section 5. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.
4. Advertising and cookies
3D 2048 displays advertising in non-gameplay areas (such as the menu and game-over screens) through Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. There are no ads inside active gameplay.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies are loaded only after consent is given through the consent banner.
For more information on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
5. Cookie consent
The first time you open the Game, a consent banner asks whether you accept cookies for analytics and advertising. The advertising script is present on every page so the site can be reviewed, but Google Consent Mode holds every signal at "denied" until you accept, so it sets no cookies and serves no personalized ads before then. The analytics script is not loaded at all unless you accept. Your choice is remembered in local storage. To change your choice later, clear the site's data (section 1) and reload the Game — the banner will appear again.
6. Data retention and deletion
On-device data (section 1) remains until you clear it from your browser. Leaderboard entries (section 2) are retained to display rankings; because they contain no personal identifier, they cannot be tied back to you. If you believe a leaderboard entry should be removed, contact us using the form below and describe the mode, name, and score.
7. Children's privacy
The Game is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the Game requires no account and asks for no personal information, no such data is collected in the ordinary course of play.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Game evolves — for example, if an advertising or analytics provider changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Updated" date at the top of this page.
9. Contact
For any questions about this policy or your data, please reach out through our contact form.
